About

I am a Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Division.  I completed my PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley and previously studied at Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies and at Wesleyan University. I've spent a number of years living and working in different parts of Africa, including Peace Corps service in Niger and a year with the World Bank in Malawi.

My current/recent research projects include:
  • Sports betting and saving constraints in Kampala, Uganda. (forthcoming, AEJ:A)
  • Sports programs for vulnerable youth in Monrovia, Liberia. (forthcoming, EDCC)
  • Processed foods and elasticity estimation (forthcoming, AJAE)
  • Firm location choice and violence in Afghanistan. (working paper)
  • Response fatigue and rural livelihoods (working paper)
  • Conception and contraceptive use in times of drought.
  • Marriage markets, migration, and income volatility in Indonesia.

If you'd like to hear a short interview I did with our communications team about my path to a career in research and working at IFPRI, go here!
